Castle Test Showcase
When thinking of ideas for a dungeon-esque platforming adventure, my thoughts lead me straight to the castle levels from the old Mario platformers. I thought it would be a decent chance to try and reimagine those levels to incorporate adventuring and looking around. This train of thought lead me to plan out a simple level where the player must jump across several platforms suspended over a lava pit with the sole goal of collecting statues.
The player in this instance is acting as a standard adventurer, raiding temples and tombs to find artifacts. Escape is only as sure as your footing, as many of your adventures lead you to dungeons filled with platforming challenges. The start and end of the level are located both at the beginning of the dungeon, however the player must collect a certain amount of treasure before being allowed to leave.
As of this build, there are no obstacles for the player, however an increasing sense of difficulty would be fun to explore. Say, the platforming becomes more difficult proportional to the amount of relics and treasure you collect, providing a risk/reward feedback loop.
